Who is King Pine Customs?

     My name is Courtney Johnson and I am the owner and designer of King Pine Customs.  I have always been interested in fashion and finally had the opportunity to pursue my passion a few years ago.  I started out by sewing and designing clothing.  I was drawn to upcycling materials instead of always buying new.  The first series of projects were constructed by sewing together Pendleton wool scraps to create a new textile.  I used this new fabric to create jackets and other items.

     I have always been a very sentimental person and when my Dad passed away it made a big impact on me.  I found myself looking for a way to bring a piece of him with me.  This is when I had the idea to combine different pieces of his clothing and use them as a lining in a leather bag.  This brought comfort to me and I thought by making bags combining leather and mementos would be a great way for others to have the same feelings.  

     The direction of my business is to combine leather with personal items or mementos that allow you to "Bring your memories with you".  We make memories every day and sometimes the jackets or shirts we wore when making those memories get lost in a closet over time.  I like to provide a way for those memories to have life again.
